The Ultimate US West Coast Road Trip - Where To Go.

If you’re someone like me that loves sunshine, adventure and exploring you will love the West Coast part of the US.

The West Coast was one of my first trips that I’ll never forget so if you’re thinking of planning a trip to the West Coast and wondering which destinations to include, then keep on reading.

First of all, you can’t visit the the USA without visiting Los Angeles in California so I recommend starting from there.

Here you’ll find the beach, lots of places to eat good food and various places to explore.

Places in LA you shouldn’t miss:

  • Santa Monica. Don’t forget to visit the famous Venice beach whilst there.

  • Downtown LA and Hollywood. Because there’s no harm in becoming a tourist for a day.

  • Universal Studios. This will be particularly fun if you love rollercoasters and you’re an adrenaline junkie.

    LA hidden gem: Redondo beach.

Believe me when I say that this place is a very well kept secret that not many people talk about. Plus it’s the perfect opportunity to escape the LA chaos as it’s a short drive from downtown LA.

From LA you should then head to San Diego, California. What you should definitely not miss in San Diego is the Mexican food. Go wild! The Mexican food there has been living in my head rent free since 2016.

Fun San Diego activity: Speed Boating

Phoenix, Arizona is the next recommended destination after exploring San Diego. I recommend spending a day in Phoenix and also make your way to Sedona in Scottsdale for the beautiful and unique views.

Fun activity to do in Sedona: If you’re looking for an alternative way to tour the area then I recommend a jeep tour. Spoiler alert. It’s a lot of fun!

From Sedona, you can then make your way to the Grand Canyon. Another spoiler alert. You will be fascinated how breathtaking the views are.

Go for a hike and if you’re feeling adventurous then go for a helicopter tour above the Grand Canyon. Your jaw will literally drop when you witness it from that view. Totally worth it.

Grand Canyon

Witnessing the sunset at the Grand Canyon should also be on your bucket list.

You can’t leave without experiencing the next destination which is Las Vegas in Nevada. You know the drill. Gambling (responsibly) is a must. I also recommend watching a show like Cirque du Soleil as it’s a unique experience in itself.

Just a warning that in Vegas and especially if you’re going clubbing, they add A LOT of alcohol in the drinks. Also, make sure that you keep your mobile phone safe whilst on a night out.

If you have the time, I recommend visiting West Coast’s hidden gem Bass Lake. Think of woods, nature, peace and beautiful lakes.

Bass Lake, California

Make sure you also visit Yosemite Park for some epic hikes, waterfalls and refreshing views.

Finally, I recommend ending the road trip at the famous San Francisco.

What I love about San Francisco is that it combines both beach and mountains and the beautiful thing about the city is that you can explore most of it on foot.

Neighbourhoods in San Francisco you shouldn’t miss:

  • Height and Ashbury

  • The Marina

  • Divisadero

Actually! I recommend visiting every single neighbourhood if you can as each one has something unique to offer!
